Organised Baking Supplies

October 22, 2015

I am by no means a cake decorator however I love baking Hazel’s (and soon Olive’s EEEK!) birthday cakes each year plus the regular cupcake baking we do. All my supplies were kept in a tub at the top of my pantry but they were over flowing and getting hard to find what I needed. This is how I organised my baking supplies to keep them all nice and tidy.

I found these plastic stackable drawers at Bunnings and picked up a large drawer and a 2 drawer containers. I used my Silhouette cutter to make some vinyl labels for the front.

In the bottom drawer I keep the cupcake cases that I use all the time, I always keep my favourites on hand and at the front of the drawer for a quick batch of cupcakes or muffins. I also keep a couple of containers of sprinkles in the back of the drawer.BakingSupplies4

In the decorating supplies drawer I have 4 small containers (from a dollar store) which hold, candles and matches, small food colouring bottles, icing tips and cupcake toppers. In the back of the drawer I have a piping bottle and a couple of piping bags.BakingSupplies3

The top drawer contains food colouring, writing icing, cellophane bags, cake pop sticks and some icing decorations.BakingSupplies2

I keep these drawers on the top shelf of my pantry and have a basket next to it for extra baking supplies and cake mixes.

This is everything I need for a quick cake or some cupcakes and makes it really easy to find what I need. I have a cupboard in my garage where I keep the remainder of my cake decorating and party supplies (I will share that post soon!).

I hope this helps any occasional cake decorators to get those supplies under control and make it easy to find what you need. If you already have some awesome cake decorating organisation, I would love to see it! Leave me a comment below 🙂

I can’t say that I have enough stuff or willingness to be a cake and/or cupcake decorator (when I make them they are pretty simple!) but I love that your organisation ideas and strategies can be applied to different areas of the house. For example, my kids have HEAPS of painting and craft stuff and this idea would work really well in keeping their painting accessories together and tidy. I have a massive laundry cupboard so I’m going to use this idea in there. Which reminds me, do you have any suggestions for organising kids’ craft?

    Thanks! 🙂
