Meal Planning {Part 1}

March 26, 2013

I am so excited to share my meal plan system with you. If you only do one thing to be more organised, it has to be to a meal plan, I promise they are worth their weight in gold.

 Before I set up my fool proof meal planning system (that even my hubby can use!) I was deciding what we would have for dinner each night when I got home from work at 5.30pm. By the time we decided what we were having, looked in the pantry and realised that we didn’t have any ingredients, went grocery shopping THEN cooked dinner, it was usually 8pm before we ate.

I finally had enough and decided to make the meal plan to envy all meal plans.

First I went through all our recipes and collected everything that we eat regularly, would like to eat regularly and new recipes to try. Then I made a list of all the recipes and their ingredients, I think we ended up with about 60!

I used Microsoft Word to make a table and put the name of the recipe on one side, and all the ingredients used on the other side. I also made another smaller table for sides. I included take out and ‘whatever’ cards as well.

I used different coloured card stock to print out the recipes then cut them up into little cards.

I found this great magnetic tape in the scrapbooking section of Big W. I had to cut it in half so it wasn’t so wide then stuck a piece to the back of each card.

What do you think so far? Come back tomorrow to see part 2 of my Meal Planning Board.
